Freshwater Project

This 16ft trolling boat was built for a loch near Aviemore to replace a smaller, older boat which was past her prime. Commissioned by a grateful son for his father, she was a surprise retirement present to be used by him for salmon fishing with an old friend.

Skiff-like in form, with a narrow waterline, she is clinker-built of larch on oak, with a rigid floor structure. She has a small fore locker and removable bench seats aft. Every effort was made to reduce the chances of pockets of stagnant water causing rot, hence the open gunwales.

The price was under £5,000, excluding long shaft Yamaha 6hp outboar. The boat is kept on a mooring on Loch Insh.
